Hi, my name is Shaquanda Dalton and I’m a best-selling urban romance author, born and raised in Milwaukee, WI. I started writing when I was nine years old and fell in love with it. I had a great urban romance story in my head that I just had to get out into the world. I became obsessed with it and added more drama to it the more I thought about it. Over a decade the story went from innocent childhood love story to full adult love story and all the drama that comes along with it.

When I was in college I finally wrote the story because I wanted to share it with the world and I wanted to know what people thought about it. I also wanted it to be part of my legacy one day and have it forever. The story ended up becoming a four-part bestselling urban romance saga called the Jaylen and Jessica series. The series has since sold over 40,000 copies and I’m thrilled that people connected to it and found it entertaining enough to read all four books!

Then around mid-2016 I stopped publishing. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve started and stopped a few writing projects, but I haven’t published any new books since 2016. I don’t have any excuses other than not committing and following through and I think that has a lot to do with passion. I want to write my next book soon and when I do, it will be another passion project and something I will immensely enjoy doing.

At the end of 2022 I was diagnosed with lupus nephritis (an auto immune disease that also attacks the kidneys) and it has changed my life. I went to the doctor for a checkup and ended up being submitted into the hospital and staying through the Thanksgiving holidays. Having never gone through anything like this before, I didn’t know how what the doctors were going to come into the room and say to me next. He literally could have said anything, and it made me very aware of how valuable my life and my time here on Earth is. No one knows how much time we have, but I don’t want to procrastinate anymore and neither do I want to ‘wait and see what happens’. I want to do what I love and that’s writing and sharing what I know about the writing craft.

My goal for this website is to add value to anyone who love the writing craft as well. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never published before or even completed a story. I want to help people try new ideas with their writing like experimenting with new writing styles and exploring different genres. I want this to be a judgement free zone with the understanding that we are all on our own individual writing journeys. So if you want to join me and my community I am welcome to have you!

Thank you so much for reading this far!
